Calling all aspiring filmmakers, Louis Vuitton wants you! The Journeys Awards, an international short film contest first launched by Louis Vuitton in 2009, invites you to express your talent and creativity through your own vision of travel.
The inaugural event saw four South African short films selected out of fifteen finalists, with Afda graduate William Nicholson placed fourth with his entry Luhambo.
Travel has long been at the heart of French design house Louis Vuitton and for the second edition of the Journeys Awards, it has chosen the theme "Encounter". Emerging filmmakers are invited online to show what a meaningful encounter means to them – be it an illuminating experience or a celebration of the unknown.
By visiting the 2nd edition website, potential contestants will find an exclusive video brief by Sicilian filmmaker and Official Jury president, Luca Guadagnino (Il Sono Amore 2009), competition guidelines, registration information and much more inspiring content.
The deadline for submission is 18 June 2012, after which the Official Jury will announce their selection on 3 July 2012. The public will also be invited to vote for their favourite film online on www.journeysawards.com.
The final winners of the Jury's Choice and Online People's Choice will be notified at the end of July 2012 and will attend a special screening to celebrate their winning entries in September 2012.
