Thamana tweeted a racist comment in response to former FHM model Jessica Leandra dos Santos derogatory Twitter rant, saying she wished all white people were dead.
Tshidi Thamana tweeted: "Dear Mr Peter Mokaba?… I wish all whites had been killed when you sang 'Kill the Boer', then we wouldn't have to experience @JessicaLeandra's racism [sic]."
Last week dos Santos tweeted: “Just, well took on a on arrogant and disrespectful k****r inside Spar. Should have punched him, should have.”
According to Sapa, Thaman's tweet was later removed from Twitter due to widespread condemnation. At first Thaman defended herself and refused to apologise, tweeting:
"Dear all … Why do people think I am a racist when I said it was wrong to be racist SMH [shaking my head] … Really!"
But International Relations and Co-operation Department spokesperson Clayson Monyela sent her a tweet explaining that her words amounted to hate speech.
Thamana later gave in and on Sunday, 6 May tweeted:
"Yes, racism is wrong and I apologise for the 'kill all whites' tweet … It was tweeted in anger."
Later she added: "Dear SA, sincere apologies for the death wish for white people, it was tweeted in anger and yes, condemnation of each other is wrong."
Jessica Leandra dos Santos shows remorse
Dos Santos has expressed her "sincere remorse" for dropping the "K" bomb that exploded into fury on Twitter.
On Saturday 5 May 2012 Dos Santos said in a statement:
"Over the past 24 hours I have had time to reflect back on my actions and I don't have the words to express my sincere remorse following my unkindly and emotional outburst on Twitter recently. The people that do know me, know that this is not my nature and verbal usage."
Dos Santos has reportedly decided to get professional coaching to help her deal with instances of sexual harassment. Her racist tweet was apparently an outburst of anger and a stand against sexual harassment.
