Will Smith is set on playing US President Barack Obama in a biopic.
He told the BBC in an interview that he deserves to get first preference, owing to his looks.
Smith jokingly said he and Obama share the same size ears and this was a definite prerequisite for the role. ''I told [Obama] jokingly, 'it's definitely something I would consider, you just have to write the ending.' So he's working on the ending right now.''
Smith also told the New York Daily News that he was looking at playing more meaningful movie roles in future.
"For the most part, I'm just looking for material that resonates. There's nothing more valuable to me than how people feel in a movie theatre. For me… the maximum amount of people that can have an experience that would give them some little gem of something to think about or talk about is all that's important to me in making movies."
Smith has considerable acting experience, having played in a multitude of roles including in Men in Black, I am Legend and Ali.
Gossip site eonline.com reports that Smith and Obama have a close relationship. Smith’s son Jaden was privileged to spend some time with the Obama family.
Smith is currently on a world tour promoting his latest Men in Black movie. He has visited the United Kingdom, Russia and Germany. He was recently in the headlines on 18 May for slapping a reporter who tried to kiss him. Smith angrily assaulted the Ukranian reporter, but later laughed off the incident.
