From Giambattista Valli and Christina Dior to Armani, veils featured strongly on the Paris Haute Couture runways. Some were in bright colours, while others featured intricate beadwork and appliquéd butterflies.
The image of models with their faces covered in these flattering net creations evoked images of fairy tales, glamorous 1950s feature films and flamenco dancers.

"I thought long and hard about those veils," said Raf Simons of the custom-made veils for the Dior show. "I did them two seasons ago at Jil Sander, so I wondered whether I could repeat them. But they're very Dior."
