Hit the streets
With several music, food and entertainment events on the go, there is something for everyone this spring. The Heineken Symphony Rocks, taking place in Cape Town and Johannesburg on 29 September and 6 October respectively, will see some of the best local artists from various genres (Mi Casa, Just Jinger and Zahara, among others) taking to the stage.
The Good Food & Wine Show, from 21-24 September at Johannesburg’s Coca-Cola Dome, is a must for all foodies. Taste food, wine and drinks from around the world and enjoy renowned chefs such as MasterChef Australia Judge George Calombaris, MasterChef Australia Winner Adam Liaw, kids celebrity chef Anjum Anand and MasterChef South Africa Judge Benny Masekwameng do their thing.
For something a bit more sensual and sexy, make your way to Sexpo, the annual health, lifestyle and sexuality expo in Johannesburg from 27-30 September. With various exhibitors, celebrities, aerial artists, pole fitness acts, hypnotists, comedians and entertainers on the line-up, there is something for everyone.
The list of outdoor activities you can do are endless. Head to your nearest beach or river for a swim, boat ride or rent some jet skis. Challenge yourself by hiking up the highest peak in your area – pack a picnic basket and enjoy the views from the top. You can also stay closer to home. Take a walk to your local park, throw out a blanket, pick some spring flowers and enjoy an indulgent spread. Just enjoy the good weather!
Add some colour
After a long, cold winter, most of us could do with some brightening up. Liven up your home and your wardrobe by spring cleaning. Getting rid of the old (ideally anything you haven’t used in six months), organising your home and wardrobe will leave you feeling renewed and refreshed. Give yourself something of a make-over by replacing worn clothing with bright, bold clothing, and do the same with the décor in your home. Bright colours, fresh flowers and a clean, organised space are said to enhance your mood.
