According to Kempire Daily, Brandy Norwood is in the process of shooting a TV show to be produced by Tyler Perry. The two have come together to work on a show which will feature Brandy in the star role and rope in her on-set parents from Moesha, William Allen Young and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
Sources told the entertainment website that Brandy had been talking about doing her own TV show for a while. According to the sources, the show will be more mature but still comedic and family-oriented.
Brandy was last seen on TV screens about 12 years ago as one of the main actors in regular sitcom Moesha. The show was a hit on the UPN network. She has since appeared in several movies and had her own reality show with her brother, Ray J. In the past year, Brandy has released a new album, toured extensively and gotten engaged to her long-time beau, music executive Ryan Press.
Although her career has received a boost of late, Brandy has previously struggled to rebound from several career blows. She was caught out for lying about being married to Robert Smith, the father of her child, and was involved in an accident in 2006 in California, which left one person dead.
After a short hiatus from the industry, Brandy returned in 2008 with Human and followed it up with Two Eleven in 2012 which solidified her musical comeback. The award-winning singer has had several hits on her latest album and is currently on a US tour to promote it. Her upcoming show is set to debut on Oprah’s OWN network, as Tyler Perry is apparently in negotiations with Winfrey to have it aired.
