Tbo Touch’s R28m upgrade of Touch Central

We spoke to Thabo "Tbo Touch" Molefe about what we can expect from his newest upgrade venture, Touch HD, formerly known as Touch Central

Touch, who was recently announced as a one of three new brand partners for cognac brand Courvoisier, has announced plans to take his business to the next level.

He’s no stranger to the term “go big or go home”, and this time he’s really gone big with a R28 million revamp of his broadcast empire.

On Wednesday, he announced the relaunch of Touch Central, unveiling the station’s new name, Touch HD.

Speaking to DESTINY MANhe revealed details of the exciting new venture which is set to revolutionise the way South Africans consume digital media.

“We were a 6am to 8pm broadcast, and now we’re going bigger and extending our line-up. Beyond this, we’re also integrating a concierge service for our listeners, so it’s not just one way listening but a host of other services and benefits,” Touch said.

He added that the station would be launching an app so listeners would have access to discounted airline tickets and tickets for events. People will also have access to reality shows created by Touch HD which takes a look at the behind-the-scenes life of a DJ.

“We will also have an exciting messenger tool on the app where a listener can interact live with other listeners online in the same way that people would chat on WhatsApp,” Touch explains.

“We want our listeners to communicate among each other and advertisers can also get real time responses to their products.”

Much of Touch HD is focused on giving the consumer an all-round experience and offer incentives.

“Anytime after noon, the first listener to call in after hearing a song that has the name of an alcoholic drink in it will get the named alcohol delivered to him or her within 30 minutes,” Touch says.

Essentially, Touch HD is looking to create experiences, moments and great content. It’s not been confirmed when the app will go live.
