On Wednesday, one of the world’s greatest tennis players, Serena Williams (35), took to social media platform Snapchat to announce her pregnancy.
Williams, who recently topped Forbes’ list of highest-paid female athletes of 2016 ahead of Maria Sharapova, posted a picture of herself in a yellow swimsuit that showed off her baby bump, accompanied with the caption “20 weeks”.
In December last year, Williams announced her engagement to Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, and to no one’s surprise, she first disclosed the news on her Reddit account. Her engagement announcement came in the form of a poem:
“I came home/A little late/Someone had a bag packed for me/And a carriage awaited. Destination: Rome/To escort me to my very own ‘charming’/Back to where our stars first collided/And now it was full circle/At the same table we first met by chance/This time he made it not by chance/But by choice/Down on one knee/He said 4 words/And I said yes,” Williams wrote, and included a cartoon sketch of Ohanian on one knee proposing to her.
The proposal came 15 months after the couple had started dating. The tennis star should be reporting for nappy duty around August.
