The Minister took to Twitter to send his condolences to Makgatho’s loved ones.
“I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of veteran actress and my dear friend, Mary Makgatho, who has sadly passed on,” he wrote.
The former Generations and Rhythm City actress is reported to have fallen and sustained serious injuries; she was subsequently admitted to hospital on 10 July. Details on her death are yet to be confirmed.
Close friend Germinah Nkadimeng took to Facebook to share how she felt about the tragic news.
“So sad to have lost one of my best friends, mamogolo wa bana baka Mary Makgatho. I am torn apart. You will be missed and [it’s] sad [news] for the performing arts sector. Rest in peace,” Nkadimeng wrote.
