“I have always dreamed of being the voice of a cartoon character. Never did I think I would be recording a voice for Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls ,though,” Delazy said in a statement.

Jamie Ondarza, the Senior Vice-President at Turner Broadcasting, which owns Cartoon Network, explained why Delazy was the perfect fit for the new character.

“Toya Delazy is definitely a perfect fit for The Powerpuff Girls brand. Toya is definitely a perfect fit as the fourth Powerpuff Girl. She is confident, bubbly and quirky; all the values that we are familiar with, love and appreciate. We have a lot of surprises up our sleeves,” he said.

This is not the first time that the musician worked on The Powerpuff Girls. In 2016, she was commissioned to create a South African version of the cartoon’s theme song, which she sang and produced.
