What do you do for a living?
I work in property finance as a candidate property valuer for a corporate and investment bank.
What does style mean to you?
For me, style is not just about clothes; it is the confidence to show your personality without saying a single word. It’s a mixture of self-knowledge and self-confidence and an expression of identity. It is the use of clothing as a means of communication with the outside world. For that reason, the way in which we choose to dress directly functions as an extension of our personality.
What is your personal style aesthetic – your signature style?
I wouldn’t say I have a signature style, as that would be very limiting. My style changes from time to time, with each stage of my life or even each occasion. My belief is that you can never be overdressed. I love the colour black and I’m dressed in it 90% of my life. I also love monochrome. I love handbags and sunglasses and incorporate them into every outfit, day and night. Some would identify my style as over-the-top. I definitely always dress to impress – impress myself! I have an elegant and classy style, with a sexy and bold side.
I take risks and I am not afraid of too much glamour. Is there even such a thing? I don’t think I am laidback or chilled at all, unless I’m in the gym, but even my gym outfits are coordinated! Basically, I’m always serving and always slaying.
How do you incorporate your personal style into the workplace?
I remain true to myself. I love dressing up and dressing well and I wear heels seven days a week – I think that helps. My love for the colour black and for monochrome, as well as my obsession with bold suits, fitted dresses and palazzo pants helps me a lot in the corporate world and styling corporate looks. I work in a bank, where tradition holds that one should wear a black or navy suit to be taken seriously. It may seem boring, but you can add your own personal touch to any suit or shirt. Corporate is a big part of my life now, so naturally, my style has had to evolve accordingly, so we slay in the office.
What piece/s of clothing can you not live without?
A good pair of jeans (Joni’s) and a little black dress.
Who’s on your fashion radar?
Rihanna, Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Olivia Palermo and Gucci as a fashion house.
Three items that are always in your handbag?
My car keys, phone and purse.
What is your travel style? Are you a discoverer or an in-depth explorer?
It’s hard to choose my favourite place. I’ve been to five of the seven continents of the world. No city, island or country was the same – each one has touched me in different ways. I have a travelling heart, it is what I love most about life, so any place I haven’t been is next on my list. I do, however, dream of Bora Bora and the Maldives quite often. I would say luxury travel, but I’m definitely an in-depth explorer.
Your five must-haves while travelling?
My cellphone, luggage, travel documents, sunglasses and money.
