Three bridal make-up mistakes

Your wedding day is the most photographed day of your life, so avoid these make-up mistakes

Not going for a make-up trial

This is one of the biggest mistakes brides can make. Ladies, please go for a make-up trial – even if it costs you more. A make-up trial will give you a chance to see what your make-up will look like before the day. If there’s something you’re not happy about, you can try something different.  This will ensure that you’ll 100% happy on the day.

“If you aren’t happy with the first trial, this will buy you time to try out another option,” make-up specialist Amanda Gabbard of the Guerlain Spa is quoted saying in Bridal Guide.

Choosing the wrong lash extensions

Lash extensions are the perfect addition to your bridal make-up, but they can go horribly wrong. We recommend going to a well-trained professional for installation, and applying lashes individually, rather than in strips. This will result in a natural thickness and length.

Rebecca Perkins, co-founder of make-up salon Rouge New York, was quoted in Bridal Guide as saying: “Tears can weaken the glue at the inner corners of the lash, causing them to lift and look crazy.”

“A gentle coat of waterproof mascara and a generous application of individual lashes will withstand a torrent of joyful tears on an emotional day. “Individual pieces will also give you a more natural look than strips: “You can build up the lashes to the desired thickness,” says make-up artist Jane Cohen.

Going for dramatic eyes

A soft, sophisticated and feminine look is advisable on your wedding day. A smoky eye or dramatic cat-eye tend to be too much for your wedding and may not look great in photographs.

Devin Giannoni, founder of Pretty Public Beauty, says applying too much black liner or shadow creates too harsh a look. “You can create a much more beautiful effect with other colours that will create a soft, glamorous, even sultry look,” he says.
