While Lesego Legobane, better known as Thickleeyoncé, has made a name for herself on social media and on South Africa’s media circuit as a blogger, photographer and plus-size model, it is her advocacy for topics such as body positivity and celebrating your natural beauty that has brought her to the attention of millions, including celebrities like Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. DESTINY took a look at 2018’s latest trends in beauty and design in our January issue and had Lesego model a few of our favourite looks.

Bold and bare

Minimalist, subtle eye make-up has made a comeback, along with its partner in crime, the dark bold lip. While your lip grabs attention, your eye should not clash and so a nude yet fun and shimmery shadow can be used to add subtlety to this look.

Colour me magic

The easiest way to stand out from the crowd is by adding a touch of colour to your lips. The perfect shade is the brightest this season, making your pout the focal point of your face.

Monochromatic make-up

Match your lipstick to your eyeshadow or your shadow to your blush with this monochromatic look in hues of red and purple. If you’re looking to have fun with this look, try Pantone’s colour for 2018, Ultraviolet, which works on most skin tones as a purple with blue undertones. Play with hues and find a colour that suits your skin tone – pinks and oranges are great for darker skin tones – and play with adding the same shade of colour to both your eyes and lips for a glam look this season.
