When it comes to purchasing a chair, there are many boxes to tick. Is it comfortable? Is it stylish? Is it of good quality? After all, we want to spend money on furniture that will last a while and prove to be a good investment.
Woodbender offers solid wood, hand-crafted furniture and has been around since 1988. The secret to lasting this long?
Woodbender combines durability and design. The family-owned business is inspired by the love of woodwork and has a passion for the art of bending solid timber. Furniture frames are made from solid ash wood, imported from North America. Screws and carriage bolts are used to fasten the frames and the wood-bending process adds strength to each piece. While cutting wood interrupts the grain, causing weakness, Woodbender maintains its strength by using an old-world bending tradition from 18th- century Europe.
Woodbender has provided furniture to restaurants, hotels, guest houses and homes. Now it has supplied the judges of Project Runway SA, a fashion design reality series that follows the journey of 12 aspiring fashion designers, as they complete tasks to be crowned the winner and realising their designing dream.
Woodbender selected the Hilton bar stool, with its sleek, curved lines, for the judges’ seats. The Hilton is beautiful, strong and comfortable – a perfect fit for the exciting, fashion-filled show.
Project Runway SA premieres on Tuesday, 10 July 2018, at 9.30pm on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161.
