Tumi Morake – making us Netflix, chill and laugh

From the time she decided to choose the road of comedy, she's broken barriers and will most likely continue on that course for the rest of her career.

She’s one of the most popular female comedians in the country and this popularity is taking her worldwide.

Alongside Loyiso Gola, Loyiso Madinga and Riaad Moosa,  Morake was chosen to be one of four South African comedians billed to take part in Netflix’s comedy festival Just For Laughs.

This honour makes Morake the first and only African female comedian to have her own set on the streaming service.

She filmed the special in Montreal, Canada and took her instagram followers along for the ride:

"Thuso tsa gago ga di balwe, ke go leboga ka tsone." I have had many firsts. I DID NOT SEE THIS ONE COMING. It was probably the most important because it wasn't just about me. Female comedians are a minority on the world comedy stage, Black female comedians even more so, African ones an almost nonexistent species. I hope this is the beginning of bigger things for our fledgling industry. Thank you @netflix for trusting me with this. S/O to @blubloodsa @riaadmoosa @loyisogola @loyisomadinga @ndumisolindi @takundabimha for being there for it all. Even the tears 🙈 Thank you to everyone whose been rooting for me since day 1. #berekamosadi #hauweng #moraketakesmontreal #jflmtl #netflixisajoke 🙏🏾🇿🇦❤️🎭
