Global superstar Adele has announced her first pregnancy. We ask how it will impact her career.
Adele posted on her website her exciting news that she and her boyfriend, Simon Konecki, are expecting their first child. “I’m delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child. I wanted you to hear the news directly from me. Obviously we’re over the moon and very excited, but please respect our privacy at this precious time,” she posted.
The singer, who is known for her heart-wrenching ballads, became a global superstar after releasing the critically acclaimed album 21. It was inspired by the break up with her former anonymous boyfriend and went on to climb the charts all over the world, becoming the biggest-selling album of 2011. Adele attended the Grammy awards with Konecki where she walked away with six trophies.
Music critics are wondering how her pregnancy will affect her music career and the tone of her music considering the angst-driven ballads she’s become famous for. Before news of her pregnancy broke, Adele announced that she would be taking a five-year hiatus to focus on her relationship with Konecki. Speaking to America’s Vogue the singer said: ‘I’m f**ng off for four to five years. If I’m constantly working my relationships fail. So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record”.
