Cosatu members met striking DA protestors halfway to their march to their headquarters on 14 May.
The counter strike was deemed illegal by the police, although Cosatu members were allowed to continue protesting. Singing Struggle slogans and bearing placards and bricks, Cosatu members tried to force their way through a police human shield. The march was held to highlight the DA’s unhappiness with Cosatu’s refusal to support the youth wage subsidy.
