A new study reveals that one in ten women take the lead when it comes to proposing.
While romance is not quite dead, ideas of a handsome Prince Charming who literally sweeps you off your feet are slowly dying. It seems that these days if women want forever, they make the grand gestures.
A study conducted by UK dating website www.swoon.co.uk revealed that while more women are proposing, three quarters of ladies who took the plunge wished that their partners would have asked first. When women do pop the question, results also revealed that the decision to do so is usually spontaneous.
It seems that when it comes to proposals, traditional ideas of romance no longer set the tone. Less men get down on one knee (63% of men surveyed rejected the tradition) and the grand event usually takes place... at home.
And when it comes to asking the bride's father for his daughter's beautiful hand in marriage, both men and women reject tradition.
