The pop superstar will produce a London-based programme.

In between jet-setting to concerts around the world, filming videos for her latest songs and making appearances at exclusive haute couture shows, Rihanna has found the time to film and executive produce a reality TV fashion show.

Called Style to Rock, the format of the show is based on 12 aspiring fashionistas attempting to make it in the cut-throat world of fashion. Rihanna has been cast as their mentor and will offer them advice and guidance.

The show will air for 10 weeks, with one designer leaving in each episode. The last person standing will clinch the title of the ultimate fashionista.

Based in London, Style to Rock will prompt Rihanna to temporarily move to the UK for the duration of the show. Due to premiere next month on the Sky Living Channel, South African fans can catch it on YouTube.

Rihanna has enlisted the help of personal stylist Lysa Cooper, fashion designer Henry Holland and Nicola Roberts of the UK pop group Girls Aloud.

Cooper has worked with the likes of Mos Def, Salt-n-Pepa, Beyonce, Aerosmith, Shakira, Mary J Blige, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.

Holland is a fashion designer and owner of House of Holland. Known for his brand of edgy style, he rose to prominence with the launch of a cheeky line of T-shirts and has dressed several celebrities

According to Sky Living, Rihanna’s passion for style made her the logical choice to produce and host the show.

“Rihanna is perfectly placed to find an aspiring designer worthy of the chance to break into the hugely competitive world of fashion. Tasking Nicola with fronting the search, Rihanna will be heavily responsible for casting and will be involved in editing post-production,” a Sky spokesperson said.

In addition Rihanna has expressed her dedication to ensuring the show is a success. "I've always had a great love of fashion. It's a constant source of inspiration in my life, and is a big reason why I've grown into the person and artist I am today.

"I have been very fortunate to work with some truly amazing designers and stylists throughout my career, and they have been instrumental in making sure my creative vision reaches the stage. I am excited to follow the journey of our aspiring contestants and see how their individuality influences their efforts during the course of the show."
