We enjoyed a Heritage Day-inspired meal with the winner of the 2nd series of MasterChef Australia, Adam Liaw.
Adam Liaw is currently in South Africa to attend the Johannesburg Good Food & Wine Show where he will, amongst other things, be judging the LG Life Tastes Good Championship.
Taking place at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg from 21-24 September, this cooking competition is open to all amateur chefs. Teams of two will be required to cook their favourite family dishes revolving around a Heritage Day theme and explain just why they are so important to them. The best team will earn the opportunity to compete in Dubai against amateurs from around the Middle East and Africa region, as well as receiving a R20 000 cash prize and a LG Charcoal Lightwave Oven each.
We chatted to Liaw over a Heritage Day-inspired lunch – which included SA delicacies such as walkie-talkie (chicken feet), biltong, kudu boerewors, toasted mielie pap, babotie and Malva pudding – held at the Mondo Vino restaurant in Montecasino, Johannesburg.
