Louis Vuitton and artist Yayoi Kusama launched their collaborative collection at its Fifth Avenue Maison store in New York City.

The collection, which was revealed on 10 July, tied in with the inauguration of the Yayoi Kusama retrospective at the Whitney Museum in New York.

The unveiling also marked the launch of seven Louis Vuitton Kusama concept stores worldwide that will immerse consumers in Kusama's "dotty" universe. The stores will feature art installations as window displays produced by Louis Vuitton in collaboration with Kusama. The two artworks that will be seen in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide include the Eternal Blooming Flowers in Mind, featuring iconic flower sculptures by Kusama, and the Beginning of the Universe, featuring her “nerve” sculptures. The installations will also act as merchandising displays for the Louis Vuitton and Kusama product range. The collection features leather goods, drop-waist dresses, silk scarves, pumps, crop pants and trench coats drenched in Kusama's signature polka dots. View the collection here.

Sporting her signature cropped, flaming red wig with fringe, Kusama arrived at the 5th Avenue Louis Vuitton store in a wheelchair clad in pieces from the Louis Vuitton/Kusama range

High-profile guests and celebrities then joined the artist in celebrating the arrival of the Kusama exhibition at the Whitney Museum with a preview dinner.

The exhibition is a retrospective of more than six decades of work from the legendary Japanese artist. It ranges from her earliest explorations in painting to her most recent work.

Guests included Sofia Coppola, Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson... all dressed in Louis Vuitton, of course!

Sofia Coppola wore a wool dress made of broderie anglaise embroidered with sequins and feathers and accessorised it with a Sofia Coppola Louis Vuitton clutch.

Diane Kruger looked gorgeous dressed in a silk crepe long dress, a silk kimono jacket and clutching a minaudiere, all from the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2013 collection. She was accompanied by beau Joshua Jackson, who looked dashing in a Louis Vuitton suit.
