NOT A "BIG/FAT/OBESE/HORIZONTALLY CHALLENGED" GUY ANYMORE:-)
This past weekend I was reminded that I was a BIG GUY. And it is funny when you speaking with the boys but man oh man I never realised I was that BIG with the descriptions being put forth. And looking back at how far I have come and that I am nowhere near my goals by my standards – it was easy but at the same time rough on other accounts.

At the same time I have realised that in trying to maybe find an economically viable option to help others with some of my beliefs and practices into weight loss I have encountered that the business world is rough.

Just today I opened up my community newspaper that I had written to; asking for space (VERY NAÏVE – I KNOW BUT I HAVE A FEARLESS ATTITUDE AND WOULD RATHER HEAR NO THAN NOT TRY ANYTHING AT ALL).

I found that in writing my story and revealing my real struggle with my journey to attain weight loss – one of their advertisers changed their advertising and now show a person who has lost more weight than I did? And all I asked for was an opportunity for their readers to let me know their battle and what they would like from a weight loss product / service offering. Nothing more.

I still have not received a response and if anything it has made me stronger with the information I have available on diet pills and certain advertisements floating about on TV land. If anything I love them for it.

If anything I am only looking into this industry because of the number of people that have asked me how I did it and – it has stopped thankfully – but it is those people who ask me for some time and are MINING FOR INFORMATION AS IF I WAS BORN YESTERDAY AND WILL TELL THEM WHAT I DID STEP BY STEP – THAT STARTED TO GET TO ME. I am not a circus act. I accept the compliments but I am happy that they did stop.
I know that at the same time one should not get too emotionally attached to a business idea – but reading about a fat person being thrown off a plane because they didn’t book 2 seats - it hits home. I never experienced that pain – but I know the journey of being overweight. The words echoing in my head are not fit for this blog. And more importantly – I have no idea what I would have done if I would have been asked such a thing after having paid for my ticket? May the Lord have mercy - should that ever be asked of a person sitting next to me...

At the same time reading about people dying before they are able to go under the knife for gastric bypass surgery hurts when you believe that you might have been able to get them to their weight without the need for gastric bypass surgery and the next surgeries to remove excess fat. You never know something until you get an answer - Thomas Edison is said to have failed over 10 000 times in inventing the light bulb but I learnt from a certain teacher if I remember correctly (that he found  over 10 000 ways not to invent the light bulb….). His failures lead to his success and not to his fall.

So to those that have decided to take the time and read this I say to you – (whether you are overweight or not or know someone that is) – I can fit both my legs in one pair of shorts where one used to fit… Crazy but true. And I didn’t even lose half of my weight? I can’t imagine what someone who has lost more than I goes through when they go shopping for a new wardrobe? If you gave up once, get up stand upright and know that it is possible!!! Just dont start on some "magic diet" as you are more than likely to gain all your original weight loss back and then some when you starting eating normally - that is - if you decide to revert back to that form of nourishment.

And for those that watch Oprah and saw Ruby on her show – I believe that it is a lifestyle change coupled with a few extra tweeks here and there to attain success and most importantly WEIGHT LOSS ALONE IS NOT THE ONLY MEASURE OF SUCCESS WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR HEALTH!

I will hopefully write on my next blog the diet pill that was recalled and some things the people experience from taking it (I must say though that I will never tell people not to take such – but I sincerely believe that until the FDA (Federal Drug Administration) and SAMC (South African Medical Council) or SABS (South African Bureau of Standards) "will know for sure on next blog" get their act together and test products before they hit the shelves – every product you take that has not being tested is a threat to your health.

December is approaching and a lot of people want to improve themselves and look hot for the beach, wedding day and other activities but the most important thing is to love yourself and stay true to who you are.

Ruby said no to her man when he wanted to come back into her life after she lost some weight – VIVA RUBY – I totally agree with her on that move!!! Where was he during all that hard work – why should he get the prize??? She is the same woman in a different body? Never forget that when you decide to change yourself - physically = NEVER FORGET WHO YOU ARE AND LOVE YOURSELF ENOUGH TO STAY TRUE TO THE PERSON INSIDE THAT PEOPLE NEVER SEE EXCEPT THOSE CLOSE TO YOU. A LOT CHANGES WHEN YOU LOSE WEIGHT! A LOT!!!

Peace and Love.

God Bless.

My stats start:

Weight: 125kg

Shirt size: XXL (Biggest that I could find)

¾ shorts for training at the gym: size 4xl

Jeans size: 46 (biggest that I could find) might have had a 48...

¾ Shorts casual: 48 (Edgars size up - Viva Kobus Wiese)

Body fat: 30.7% think might have been more but is what i have on record.

My stats currently:

Weight: 91kg’s (will be increasing with time as I will be increasing my muscle mass as doing rehabilitation and working on sorting out a few injuries that made it hard for me to lose the weight and PAINFUL painful at times (THIS IS WHAT MADE IT HARD FOR ME – NOTHING ELSE!) I was orignally going to go for 88kg's but focusing more on the rehabilitation. Weight loss is not important in my view...

Body fat: unkown and not interested (for NOW) as I am more than happy with my progress and only because of the injuries – otherwise would be much better and closer to my standards.

Shirt size: M

¾ shorts: 36

Jeans size: 36
P.S. comments on the last blog were helpful and hopefully this one is better though I did write it after seeing that advertisement in my community newspaper.. And hopefully the blog on the diet pill and its reasons for it being recalled will be most valuable and informative.
Thankyou!!!!
