Ndalo Media, parent company of DESTINY magazine, DESTINYCONNECT and other ventures, aims to establish itself as one of South Africa’s leading media companies.
The company is owned by its Managing Director, Khanyi Dhlomo and Media24 through a 50:50 joint venture. Media24 owns and manages some of South Africa’s leading magazines and newspapers.
Ndalo Media’s first venture DESTINY is a high-end business and lifestyle magazine for women. DESTINY is aimed at accomplished, stylish and intellectually curious women who are either interested in, or actively engaged in business. As the first publication of its kind in South Africa, it aims to fill a void for business and financial information that connects, supports and inspires women who are professionals, entrepreneurs, businesswomen and general business enthusiasts.
To support and enhance DESTINY’s print product, DESTINYCONNECT was launched in October 2008. DestinyConnect serves to extend the brand into the online space, incorporating an interactive social media platform, as well as a portal for readers to engage with and empower themselves and each another.
Khanyi Dhlomo is the driving force behind Ndalo Media and DESTINY magazine. She fulfils a dual role as Managing Director of Ndalo Media and Founding Editor of the publication.
Khanyi is no stranger to South African media. She was editor of True Love Magazine for 8 years, where she not only doubled the publication’s readership and circulation, but also received accolades including the AdVantage Magazine Editor of the Year award in 2001.
True Love was also voted Consumer Magazine of the Year by AdVantage in 2001. In 2003, she was named one of the most influential women in South African media by The Media.
In 2003, Khanyi moved abroad, first to Paris where she was head of SA Tourism in France, and then in the USA where she completed an MBA at Harvard Business School. Khanyi is now based in South Africa.
