Five students from SA will join Usher’s World Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, from 19 to 23 June. The group were handpicked at a training course which took place in March this year.
In partnership with the Tim Tebeila Foundation, the aim of the conference is to empower the youth in the four leadership pillars of talent, education, career and service. The Tim Tebeila Foundation focuses on rural development, philanthropy, food systems and volunteerism.
The students are Kalisha and Ashlin Bheemraj from Sunward Park High, Ntai Thato of Kgotlathuto Secondary, Brilliant Manyathi of Lethulwazi Comprehensive School, and Rorisang Moseli from St Benedict’s College. To qualify the pupils had to attend the Powered by Service Training by New Look Foundation.
“We are proud to be the collaborating organisation on the ground, in helping the New Look Foundation take these five students to the World Leadership Conference. We strongly believe in their vision and strive for the same things here in South Africa,” said Tebeila.
Usher visited SA in March when he performed at a sold-out concert at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto. While here, Usher visited several schools on the East Rand with local musicians. The R&B star was apparently so impressed with the pupils he came across, that he requested a group of students join his foundation for the conference. New Look Foundation is one of Usher’s charitable efforts to give back to the community.
