Blogging Community - Guidelines

DESTINYCONNECT is home to a community of business-minded women and their colleagues, partners, friends and family. You must be aged 18 and older to use this site.

PLEASE BE AWARE, though, that content in the DESTINYCONNECT section (blogs, forums, chats, messages etc) of the website is user-generated and, as such, does not provide professional advice, diagnosis or treatment of any kind – medical, legal, professional or personal – and we recommend users seek their own face-to-face advice from a professional in their area.

The opinions and Perspectives you read on this site are those of the individual Perspectives contributors and members of the Destiny Network only; they are not necessarily the opinion of DESTINY CONNECT, DESTINY magazine, or Ndalo Media.

So, to be a part of the DESTINYCONNECT community and engage with other users on an ongoing basis, there are two non-negotiable rules we enforce to protect users and ourselves:

Rule 1: We ask all users to embrace the spirit of civil disagreement. That means that, as a community whose aim is to connect, empower and inform business-minded women, we require and encourage users to share their opinions – in other words, to agree and disagree as strongly as they need to – without crossing the fine line between acceptable content and unacceptable content.

Rule 2: We refuse to publish and will remove any content we think is unacceptable.

What is unacceptable content?

We call everything that’s published on DESTINYCONNECT.COM content – from your Perspectives posts and forum responses, to your personal and business profile information, messages, poll responses, video, text, images… If it’s live on the site, it’s considered content. And while we encourage you to share your views, expand your network and make the connections that count, we must insist that your content not include or be linked to any of the following:

  1. Posts that include hate speech, racism, discrimination, or that are libelous, defamatory, deliberately false or that knowingly misrepresents another person.
  2. Any writings that include swear words and bad language.
  3. Posts, mails or behaviour that constitutes stalking, harassment or abuse, or is considered threatening towards a person or other people.
  4. Anything that is in breach of someone else’s copyright, trademark, trade secret or patent, or the disclosure of information that is bound by a confidentiality agreement or obligation. If you quote someone in your post, it’s up to you to credit the quote’s original author. If in doubt, visit www.eff.org/bloggers/lg.
  5. Anything that contains information that’s been commissioned and paid for by a someone else, and/or contains paid-for advertising links, or SPAM. And as far as Destiny Connect is concerned, SPAM is anything that’s completely random, annoying and unrelated to any of the discussions across all sections.

We generally decide what’s acceptable or not on an item-by-item basis, but we’re also in no way limiting ourselves to only evaluating the things mentioned above. We reserve the right to edit and/or remove content, and alter the unacceptable list, as and when required without notifying members. To a large degree, we’ll be relying on you to help us evaluate the content on the site. If you see something that you feel is in breach of any or all of the above, please contact us directly on 011 300 6700 or email feedback@destinyconnect.com
