Medical experts recommend the following tactics for healthy gaming:
1.Set sensible time limits when gaming – play too long and you’re at risk of eye strain, muscular spasms and fluid retention.
2.Make sure you engage in regular cardio exercise at least three times a week and get out into the open air regularly, preferably to play sport, cycle or jog.
3.Instead of snacking on crisps, biltong, beer and fizzy cooldrinks while gaming, try healthier options like dried fruit, nuts or vegetable crisps. Also drink plenty of water or unsweetened fruit juice during the game to keep you hydrated.
4.Take a break every 30 minutes – walk around, flex your hands and wrists, and focus on something other than the TV screen.
5.Don’t slouch – sit up straight and ensure that your back is fully supported throughout the game.
