Two of the new make-up artists, Gina Myers and Nthato Mashishi, are based in Johannesburg, with the third one, Melissa van Zyl, is in Cape Town. All three newly appointed make-up artists agree that make-up should enhance your natural beauty, not mask it.

Melissa says: “As make-up artists we help people achieve their full style potential by showing them how to capture and capitalise on their assets to highlight their individual beauty. For me, one of the most important make-up products is foundation. It must match and complement your skin tone and really is the basis for any look.”

Gina, who is passionate about making women look and feel good, says that blending is important to achieve the natural look. She says: “Make-up artistry requires knowledge of the latest fashion and beauty trends and an eye for colour and shape, to help women translate these into their own personal style.”

According to Nthato, make-up needs to be appropriate. “A look for a business executive is totally different to one for a ramp model or for a night out on the town. The challenge is to ensure that our artist's palette is versatile enough to be able to create the right looks for the right occasion. All with the overall aim of enhancing natural beauty and making every women feel fabulous.”

Janine Fernandes, Brand Manager of Elizabeth Arden South Africa, says: “Today's modern woman is looking for products that do more than just make her look good. She is a savvy consumer looking for quality and innovation in her make-up to achieve her healthiest, most beautiful look. Our colour refocus is aimed at not just delivering, but exceeding, this beauty expectation. We're moving beauty forward with make-up formulations that deliver premium skincare benefits.”

The Elizabeth Arden make-up range consists of foundations that caters for all skin types and skin tones, including dark shades, specially formulated for the South African market. The range also includes colour-saturated lipsticks, eyeshadow duos with complementary shades, cheek colours, eye pencils and lash-extending mascara.
