Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Bheki Cele and his wife Thembeka (ABOVE LEFT) channelled the Sophia Town era with their retro outfits. The ever-snazzy Cele went for a brown and blue combo while his lovely wife wore a cream fifties-style dress.
DA Parliamentary leader, Mmusi Maimane (ABOVE RIGHT) matched his wife Natalie’s strapless navy and bronze gown by donning a suit in a similar colour. Natalie’s simple gown ticked all the right boxes and was stunningly elegant.
Business partners Chomee and Arthur (ABOVE LEFT) have become regulars at State of the Nation Addresses. The two were spotted at the previous one in February. This time around they upped the glam factor with their red-carpet worthy outfits. Arthur impressed in a camel and brown suit, which he switched up with a neat bow tie. Actress Chomee opted for a pale blue dress which she accessorised with a gold buckle belt.
Mandla Mandela (ABOVE RIGHT) and his wife Mbali Makhathini were easily the best-dressed couple of the event. The duo were resplendent in their brown and orange Xhosa garb.
First lady Bongi Ngema Zuma (ABOVE LEFT) donned a grey and bronze figure-hugging number while DA leader, Helen Zille (ABOVE RIGHT) kept it neutral in a black cardigan and skirt. Both outfits were very safe and rather dull.
Our best-dressed lady pick was Thobeka Madiba (ABOVE LEFT) who dazzled in a navy and gold, floral-emblazoned dress. Thobeka’s regal look was completed with a fur stole. She is pictured next to parliamentary speaker, Baleka Mbete (ABOVE RIGHT) who wore a beige two piece with a striking shawl jacket and a lush fur collar.
