An anonymous caller told News24 that it was a British Airways Boeing 737, and that its main wheel had collapsed.

Acsa spokesperson Colin Naidoo told News24 that the aircraft was causing a slight delay of about 15 minutes.

“OR Tambo is currently using an alternative runway to ensure flights are able to leave the airport. For safety and security reasons we will have to close that runway [where the aircraft is].”

At this stage, it is not known how the aircraft came to get stuck on the runway.
