It’s been an exciting year for Pearl Thusi. The actor/presenter will be joining the cast of The Blue Mauritius, a film about five international thieves hired by a mysterious person from Mauritius to steal the most valuable stamps in the world.

Thusi will play the role of Makeda, a sexy, gun-toting, motorcycle-riding femme fatale, who works for a German art dealer on a mission to steal the precious stamps that hold the secret to a treasure on the island of Mauritius.

The Blue Mauritius will be produced by New York-based D Street Pictures and Cape Town’s Kaapland Films (Klein KarooMooirivier). The film’s executive producers are Dexter Davis and American actor, rapper and presenter, Nick Cannon.

“We’re thrilled to have Pearl Thusi join our incredible cast of international movie stars, says Davis. “Ms Thusi is in a league of her own and a force in the South African television and film industry. The producers and I agreed that no one was better suited to play Makeda, a character that was written specifically to show the strength of a beautiful, powerful and determined woman.”

Thusi is currently hosting Lip Sync Battle Africa alongside “master of ceremonies” Oliver Twist star D’banj. The show debuted on MTV on Thursday, 14 April.

While Thusi is no longer presenting Live AMP on SABC1, she recently returned to her Metro FM presenting job.

She had this to say about her latest international acting gig: “I am extremely excited to be part of this international feature film with an array of talented movie stars, directors and producers. I cannot wait to get on set to start filming this action-packed film that has already begun to challenge me physically. My acting career is finally beginning to take shape, is growing and is heading into the direction I want it to. This movie allows me to proudly represent South Africa amongst this gifted cast made up of actors and actresses from around the world.”

Well done, Pearl!
