Among the esteemed guests were media maven and Fashion Editor for DESTINY & DESTINY MAN magazines, Asanda Sizani, artist-entrepreneur Nelson Makamo, Morning Live anchor Leanne Manas and the co-hosts of SABC1’s The Real Goboza, Phat Joe and Amanda du Pont.

The #HPCRotaryArtsFestival saw 75 artists showing their work and exceeded the standard and fundraising success of last year’s event, with engaging collaborations and new initiatives. This year, a broader Arts Festival includes book launches, music and an inaugural portrait competition, which was held last night and won by 47 models – Paul and the Austin by Cathy Verheul.

DESTINY and DESTINY MAN’s art-inspired #YouthMonth issue covers which feature self-portraitist Tony Gum and artist Nelson Makamo on the cover are highlighted with Blow-ups of these art-inspired covers outside Exclusive Books in Hyde Park Corner until Sunday 12 June when the festival ends. Art enthusiasts are encouraged to take selfies in front of the posters, post them on Instagram and tag @destinyconnect, and @hydeparkcorner with #SupportLocalArt.
The funds raised for the 2016 Festival will be used for: 12 families with deaf or hard-of hearing infants via Hi Hopes; The annual Senior Youth Leadership Course; private school fees for three young orphaned girls from Christ Church Christian Care Centre in Berea, Johannesburg at McAulay House School for Girls, and the training of a White Cane Instructor for the rural blind at The College of Orientation and Mobility.
