South Africa’s media darling Bonang Matheba has once again taken her celebrity brand to a new level.

Matheba has been named the Africa face for internationally acclaimed sandal brand Ipanema and will be joining the international super model Gisele Bundchen, who’s the brand’s global ambassador.

Ipanema, named after the Ipanema neighbourhood in Brazil known for its sandy beaches and trend-setting lifestyle, has become one of the biggest sandal brands internationally.

At the announcement event in Johannesburg, Matheba explained that this partnership has been in the works for a long time.

“I’ve been working on this for a very long time. I travelled to Brazil, Rio, a couple of months ago and shot on the Ipanema beach, and I can officially tell the world that I’m taking over from Gisele Bundchen as the new African ambassador for Ipanema!” the star said excitedly.

She added that the opportunity was another dream of hers that has come into fruition.

“It is a dream come true, it is a brand that I absolutely love and I think anybody that knows me knows that I only associate myself with things I love. Whether it’s work or family, I put love first because when we love something, it doesn’t become work, it becomes effortless,” she said.
