Rumours have been circulating for a while, but Kani has finally confirmed that he’ll be joining the cast of one of the most anticipated movies of the year, Marvel’s Black Panther.
He’ll star alongside Micheal B Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, John Kani and many others.
The actor took to Instagram to share the news.
“Atandwa Kani in “Black Panther” #LivingTheDream #Marvel #BlackPanther # KaniDynasty,” he posted with an image of himself with the official movie artwork.
The groundbreaking film is the first Marvel movie with an all-black cast, and it’s also the first time that a Marvel film will feature a black superhero as its lead.
Movie database IMDb has updated its cast list of the movie to include Kani. While it’s not known how big Kani’s role in the film will be, what is known is that he’ll be playing the character of King T’Chaka/Young T’Chaka, the younger version of King T’Chaka played by John Kani, his father in real life.
The film will be released in 2018 and is being shot in Atlanta, Georgia.
