Originally aimed at reducing acne, retinol, a form of vitamin A, is known for offering a host of benefits for the skin, such as cell reproduction and growth, as well as targeting specific concerns and issues, making it vital for overall skin health.

Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair 1% is proven to dramatically reduce the appearance of discolouration, uneven skin tone, fine lines, wrinkles, and combat free radical damage – a must-have for every woman!

Adding Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair 1% to your skincare routine will ensure your skin concern is effectively addressed because our cells regenerate faster at night.

On its own, the retinol molecule is extremely delicate and likely to lose potency once exposed to light or air, so Overnight Retinol Repair 1% has been developed using advanced technology to protect the molecule within the formula. This allows the retinol to retain stability in order to deliver results deep into the skin’s lower layers.

Additional key ingredients include:

  • Squalane from Brazilian sugar cane, which restores skin moisture and suppleness;
  • Palmitoyl tripeptide-5 and Taut peptides to help minimise the appearance of wrinkles;
  • Sodium ascorbyl phosphate, a derivative and antioxidant of vitamin C, helps reduce the appearance of skin discolouration;
  • Active polysaccharides to hydrate and prevent water loss in the skin, helping to soften fine lines; and
  • Liquorice extract, which helps calm irritation and provides antioxidant power.

While the benefits of retinol are numerous, skin irritation can be a common side effect, as users build a tolerance to the ingredient. To counter this, Overnight Retinol Repair 1% comes with a buffer cream to control the concentration of retinol being applied to the skin while it adjusts, minimising irritation and maximising results.

To gradually assist the skin in getting accustomed to this form of vitamin A, it’s recommended you mix one part Overnight Retinol Repair 1% with three parts buffer cream before applying to cleansed skin.

If you have sensitive skin, it’s recommended you apply the mixture on alternate nights and increase the ratio as the skin adjusts, until it reaches a point where the Overnight Retinol Repair 1% may be used alone, or applied when mixed with moisturiser.

Once the skin has become accustomed to it, apply the cream nightly, avoiding the eye area. Remember to use the treatment only at night when cell renewal is at its prime and wear sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 during the day and avoid excessive sun exposure.

If you’d rather experience the benefits of retinol at a lower concentration, Dermalogica offers a 0,5% Overnight Retinol Repair and a 0,1% Age Reversal Eye Complex.
