Oprah Winfrey – Food, Health & Happiness (Flatiron Books)

In this cookbook, Oprah finds her happy medium between the food she loves and eating healthily. Created with the help of her personal chefs over the years, such as Mei Lin and Art Smith, it contains a range recipes that inspire healthy but happy eating, with winners like Unfried Chicken.

Kelis – My Life on a Plate: Recipes From Around the World (Kyle Books)

This is the singer, songwriter Kelis’s first cookbook and showcases her Puerto Rican heritage and other world flavours. With a love for food inspired by her mother, a chef, and the cuisine she got to sample while travelling the world through her music, the multi-award-winning artist’s interest in creating unique dishes led her to enrol at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu school to become a chef.

Michelle Obama – American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America (Crown)

Former US First Lady, lawyer and writer Michelle Obama encourages healthy eating in her first book inspired by the White House Kitchen Garden she started in 2009, planting fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs. The book contains beautiful images of the garden’s progress and recipes from White House chefs using the garden’s produce.

J’Something – Something’s Cooking (Quivertree Publications)

Award-winning musician, restaurateur and My Kitchen Rules SA judge J’Something added author to his resume, following the release of his cookbook: “This book takes you on a journey of the food I grew up with – the food I simply cannot go without,” he says. The foodie shares his favourite dishes alongside a curated playlist for each chapter.

Tia Mowry – Whole New You (Ballantine Books)

After developing endometriosis, which forced her to give up dairy and refined sugars, actress, wife and mother Tia Mowry released a cookbook centred on healing. With highlights from the book that encompass whole plant foods, a 10-day guide to jumpstart your healthy food lifestyle and recipes for kids, the book celebrates clean-eating for the whole family, while sharing Mowry’s wellness journey.
