Luxe beauty house Lancôme Paris invited us on a whirlwind two-day French affair to celebrate their signature La Vie Est Belle fragrance at an exclusive event in Paris. The theme of the trip was spreading joy and happiness to those around you…

Feeling happy in Paris

To kick off the first part of our Parisian experience, the Lancôme team ferried us from the chic Sofitel hotel to the Eiffel Tower at the Champ de Mars for a “La Vie Est Belle Happiness” photoshoot with media influencers; South African media powerhouse Carol Bouwer, pilot and style influencer, Powede Awujo, Nigerian singer Waje and Editor of Genevieve magazine Betty Irabor, who all shared their own stories about their paths to happiness.

Next up, we were whisked off to an exclusive beauty experience, getting our makeup flawlessly applied by none other than Head International Makeup Artist for Lancôme David Coranson Beaudu in preparation for the big reveal later that evening. A flurry of outfit changes, shoe changes and hair checks later, we all looked absolutely banging and set out for an incredible dinner at Paris’s famous Manko restaurant.

Walking into what seemed like a re-enactment of the new film campaign, shot by French filmmaker Bruno Aveillan, showing Julia Roberts happily beaming and walking barefoot through a water fountain at a party, we were welcomed by flashing pink slogans of the brand’s statement: “Make someone happy.” A highlight was the fun water wall activation, featuring a huge swing for us to happily swing the night away.

Part two of our trip with @lancomeofficial was being treated to a bespoke Parisian experience of a lifetime, with a visit to Lancôme’s magnificent counter inside the infamous shopping haven, Galeries Lafayette, to try out the latest Le Teint Particular custom foundation service. It helps you get the perfect skin-shade match with cutting-edge formulations and technology.

Starting off with a fancy colour expert tool that scans your skin’s undertones and overtones to pick up the pigments in your skin, it then syncs this information with Lancôme’s very clever custom foundation machine (the only one in the whole of Europe, but rumoured to making its way to us sometime next year).

The machine magically drips your specific colour pigments to create your colour-matched formula, filling it half-way, which then gets popped into a machine that spins the formula to mix it all up for you to check against your skin. Lastly, your bottle gets filled and personalised with a chic printed sticker with your name and foundation ID code on it, so you can simply reorder your formula when needed – voila!
