Staying in shape is difficult for most people at the best of times, but these celebrity mothers have taken it upon themselves to be the best versions of themselves – and this includes their health.

Radio presenter Melanie Bala, who has two children with ex-husband Zwai Bala, admits to being inspired by one of her best friends, Unathi Nkayi, who is on her own fitness journey.

“This is also a really big deal for me, to have a waist – it’s always been a problem area, especially after having kids!” she wrote to her 93 000 followers while flashing her toned abs.

Can summer bodies be made in spring? 😂 I sure AF hope so. As usual, I was really lazy through winter and ate my way through *all* the cake, biscuits, chocolate there was 😫 I see it on my waist, so back to exercising seriously again. During the week, I’m managing 30 minutes of yoga at most (sometimes 15 🙈) but Saturday’s are great for me to go deeper into my practice. An hour or more on the mat, pushing myself harder, exploring. At 49, Jennifer Lopez is considered #bodygoals for many women as she rivals those half her age in terms of physique and few would believe she’s had twins.

The actress and singer has been on a gruelling tour and all the cardio from the dancing helps her stay in shape. This time, however, she’s determined to make an effort to look and feel her best through the tour. She showed off the progress of her workouts on Instagram with only three days left before the end of her tour.

“When I started this run, I thought OMG, 15 shows in 27 days that’s a lot… but I made a promise to myself that instead of letting it wear me down, I would be even stronger at the end of it… I will work out and be in the best shape of my life.”

Unathi Nkayi has not been shy about her incredible fitness journey that has seen her transform her body. Other than consistent workouts, she credits time and patience as her motivating factor. She shared a before and after picture of herself, showing her drastic weight loss from six months after giving birth to her daughter until today. While others would be tempted to write off her pep talk as “easier said than done”, she explains that it’s taken her years to get to the body she so proudly and deservedly flaunts right now.

“It has taken me SEVEN years to get here! Be PATIENT! Be KIND to yourself! KNOW that it is POSSIBLE.”
