African Fashion International’s Johannesburg Fashion Week (AFIJFW) runway isn’t just about the fashion, it’s about all-around creativity – from fashion to music, performances and beauty. We take a look at some of this year’s best runway beauty moments from AFIJFW 2018.

With fabulous beauty looks created by MAC and hair styled by Wella Professionals, the runway was teeming with inventive and out-of-the-box beauty moments, including prints at Maxhosa (and not on the clothing), as well as high-octane pops of colour on lids and lips, we give you our favourite moments.

Tsotetsi KL

The bold lip became the loud mouth at Tsotsetsi KL’s off-location show at Constitution Hill, where deep reds and contrasted nudes dominated the runway. Contrasted nudes (nude shades that contrast with your skin tone) are the latest trend for summer, giving the wearer a focal point to their look when paired with a bare face.

David Tlale

Mystery and magic were part of the enchanting beauty behind David Tlale’s showstopping makeup for his collection. Dark, starry lips and lids were created using black shadows and lipsticks for drama and silver glitter for magic.

5 Knot

Fashion design duo 5 Knot went bright for their streetstyle-cool collection, with daring monochromatic lips and shadows in orange, green and purple.

Geometric prints were lifted right off of Maxhosa’s fabrics and transferred to the eye to complement the collection, as male and female models sported white graphic eyes on their lids, bare faces and nude lips.

Cameroonian fashion label Kreyann gave us the glossy red lip with emerald eyes for its showcase at AFI and the combined effect was magnificent to behold, as the models shimmered down the runway.

Quiteria and George

Quiteria and George gave us high fashion drama, with over-the-top plastic strip lashes and red lips and brows galore, accompanied by beehive hair adorned with butterflies for the collection’s showcase.
