As the season 3 finale of Insecure wrapped up on our screens earlier this month, die-hard fans of the hit HBO series have largely resolved to patiently waiting for its 2019 return to see creator and lead actress Issa Rae.
On Thursday however, news broke that the two-time Golden Globe Award nominee will be star as the lead in a new Fox romantic comedy directed by Stella Meghie, American Princess.

According to reports, the movie’s plot, will see Rae play an American woman who relocates to London and is soon immersed in the top echelons of society, and finding herself unexpectedly falling in love.
While the release date has not been confirmed, the script is written by Amy Aniobi – who has co-produced and written for Insecure – promising a brand viewers have come to love.
The 33-year-old writer, director and producer began her TV career as the web comedy series creator of The Mis-Adventures of Awkward Black Girl, which first aired in February 2011. Her work has since garnered a number of other award nominations, including the 2018 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
