The SA national women’s football side returned home from the event to a hero’s welcome, at which Safa handed the cheque to team captain Janine van Wyk.
The amount of money includes all the incentives and bonuses agreed upon prior to the team’s departure for Ghana.
Banyana are currently the toast of country, with the runners-up spot also guaranteeing them a place in the next Fifa Women’s World Cup, to be hosted by France next year.
The money will be split equally among the players who did duty in Ghana.
